Chiropractic Care & Pregnancy
Chiropractic care focuses on the "whole self" all areas
of health, which also includes diet and exercise to assure that your
pregnancy and delivery will go as smoothly as possible.
A pregnant woman under chiropractic care will have
decreased time of labor, decreased pain during pregnancy and labor, and
decreased risk of birth traumas. These are attributed to the fact that the
woman's body is functioning at the most optimum level to ensure proper
growth, carriage, and delivery of the baby.
Chiropractic can help:

Testimonial:
" Dr. Cindy and Dr. Brian helped me to
achieve my goal of a successful vaginal birth after two c-sections
(VBA2C). I had never received chiropractic care before. I read about the
Webster Technique and knew that my first cesarean was a result of my
baby's position.
I set out to maximize my chances for a vaginal delivery.
Throughout the pregnancy, Dr. Cindy gently adjusted me and coached me on
exercises for optimal fetal position using an exercise ball. I fully
believe that my body was optimized for the labor and delivery process.
Labor started as my husband and I
celebrated our wedding anniversary at a local restaurant. Following two
hours of intense
(but smooth) labor, our daughter arrived peacefully and
flawlessly! She was in perfect position. On the way to the hospital and in
between contractions, I told my husband that I believed this onset of
labor was a direct result of the chiropractic appointment that very same
morning!
My body performed instinctively and I
truly believe that chiropractic care allowed for my body to perform as it
should. Chiropractic care is so much more than just neck and back care.
Everything is connected and it all starts with the brain and spine! I
believe that chiropractic care does benefit women before, during, and
after pregnancy.
Thank you, Drs. Cindy and Brian!" ~Mom to Victoria, VBA2C

Information you and your loved ones should know about
Postpartum Depression (PPD)
 | It is a hormonal
imbalance affecting the brain; a temporary and treatable illness. |
 | It strikes 1 in 10 women
and is more serious than “baby blues.” |
 | Women with PPD should be
watched very carefully and should be seen in the doctor’s office at
least once a week. |
 | Those who are treated
for severe depression and or a suicide attempt must be watched even more
carefully, especially if they seem to be getting better. When severely
depressed, the mother does not have enough energy to follow through. But
after treatment, they regain energy and will follow through. |
 | Too many doctors are
unaware of how serious PPD really is. |
 | Proper treatment of PPD
requires the following:
 | Correct medication for
each individual |
 | Proper counseling or
psychotherapy |
 | Participation in a
good PPD support group |
|
Some things to remember as
a family or friend of a sufferer:
 | PPD is a real illness |
 | She cannot “snap” out of
it |
 | She will get better |
 | You WILL get your
wife/daughter/sister/friend...back |
 | You cannot make this go
away |
 | PPD affects the whole
family |
 | Make sure you are taking
care of yourself |
 | Do not assume everything
is OK because she says so |
 | Do not let her
appearance convince you that she is feeling better than she really is |
 | Do not tell her what to
feel or what not to feel |
 | Validate what she feels |
 | Listen to her |
 | Some things that made
her feel good previously, may not work this time |
 | Tell her you know she
feels miserable |
 | Tell her she will get
better |
 | Tell her she can still
be a good mother and feel terrible |
 | Tell her it’s OK to make
mistakes – she doesn’t have to be perfect |
 | Tell her to let you know
what she needs you to do to help |
 | Tell her you love her |
 | Tell her the baby will
be fine |

| The Webster
Technique The
Webster Technique is a
specific chiropractic analysis and adjustment which in turn removes
constraint to the woman's uterus and allows the baby to get into the
best possible position for birth. |
| What is in-utero
constraint? In-utero constraint literally
means constraint within the uterus. It is a condition in which the
uterus is not able to allow the fetus to present in an optimal
position which may lead to a cesarean section (C-section). This can be
due to many things, such as bones not being in their correct position,
tight and overactive muscles, weak muscles and improper nerve messages
and passage. More often than not, these are found in combination.
Pelvic misalignment causes the tightening and torsion of specific
pelvic muscles and ligaments producing constraint. It is these tense
muscles and ligaments and their constraining effect on the uterus
which prevent the baby from assuming the vertex position.
